FirstLink colleges and students will be using the new ctcLink system within 9 months and, therefore, implementation planning is in full force at Tacoma and Spokane colleges. But—while not as intense yet—all the rest of the colleges are engaged in prep work as well. Wave 1 colleges attended a project planning/kickoff meeting in October and Waves 2 and 3 are not far behind.
Last week, the ctcLink project management team was on campus in Spokane for a focused set of implementation planning meetings with the Spokane team. Tacoma Community College project management joined the Spokane team in the morning for some detailed FirstLink planning with Barbara Martin and Jeff Thompson. Later in the day, CCs of Spokane executives had a chance to discuss the project and status with Jeff and Barbara, followed by a meeting with subject matter experts (SMEs) to go over project issues and answer questions.
While there is a lot on everyone’s plate (Thanksgiving reference not intended), the good news is the project is on schedule for an August 2014 launch date for Tacoma and Spokane.
While that is going on, Wave 2 colleges and SBCTC are gearing up for their project kickoff web meeting next week. The meeting is designed to assist college teams and SMEs gain a better understanding of the process, timing and commitment that will be required for ctcLink implementation, along with providing tools and tips for success along the way.
If you are a SME in Wave 2 and haven’t yet heard about the December 2 or 4 kickoff meeting for your college, please check in with your main ctcLink contact(s) on your campus. It’s a busy time of year, so it’s understandable if the information is still trickling out. In addition, the sessions will be recorded so SMEs or anyone on your campus can listen in on the sessions at a later date.
